Closing in on three decades of gigging in a range of different bands - including several with fellow guitarist Scot - Josh didn't really discover AC/DC until later in life. Long road trips to gigs with Scot, and meet-ups with his brother, drove the AC/DC stake and sparked a real love for the band. Ale-fuelled discussions at the Baldock Beer Festival eventually led to the formation of the band, egged on by publican Rob Scahill of The Orange Tree, Baldock (where we would go on to play our first gig on 10th September 2016).
A guitarist since the age of 11, Josh picked up bass to fill in for one of Scot's bands and has been playing it ever since. This led to performing in original bands such as The Finest Hour, recording EPs and touring the UK, where he also played double bass for stripped-down sets.Â
Josh often gets asked how on earth he can enjoy playing as the bassist in a 'DC band - there's a fallacy that it's just about banging out an open "A"! His response is simple - grooving with a rhythm section is probably the coolest feeling there is. It doesn't need a thousand notes per bar or elaborate scales. As Cliff says, "Play what you should, not what you could".
